Googlebot is basically a program that is used to crawl a webpage. Google’s main crawler is called Googlebot. Main functions of Googlebot is Crawling, Indexing and Ranking (Ranking is informed by Googlebot, but not by Googlebot). An increased crawl rate will not necessarily lead to better positions in Search results.
Googlebot is responsible for the indexing and making sure that the content is useful for the ranking.
When crawling, Googlebot try to figure out the pages already indexed. If you have a gigantic retail site, Google can’t just like crawl all the pages at once, it crawl a little bit and then basically ramp it up and rent down again then ramp up again, that is kind of fluctuation. With mobile-first indexing, Googlebot primarily crawls and indexes pages with the smartphone agent and helps to show the URL that is the most appropriate to users (whether it’s a desktop or mobile URL) in Search results.
Googlebot collects all the 200 ranking signals and then stuffs them as metadata into the index.
Build good content for the users and rank well in Google.
